Are you the only administrator on your forum?

Or do you allow for more than one administrator users?

What was the start of your interests in running your own forum?

Long ago in the late 90s, my parents let me use the WebTV and get online. I made a website using the website creator feature. I learned basic HTML and made it better.

Then after I got a real computer, a friend told me about forums.

Initially, I was using phpBB1, but version 2 came out and I went to it and got serious. Back then you had to code in plugins. It took forever especially on dialup internet, LOL. Smartphones weren’t around so I couldn’t watch slop while I waited for the page to load. 😛

That was my start.

I feel like I used some of the older forums before, but never made one until phpBB1.

I also have a proboards forum right when they came out, but didn’t stick to it for very long.

How about you all? What’s your story?

Do you run more than one forum?

If so, how many? Do you ever find it overwhelming to run multiple forums?

I run 5 forums. It sounds like a lot, and it probably is, but at one time, I have more than 30 forums going.

I have a problem. LOL. I’m addicted to forums. I’ll create one and see where it goes. Sadly, I’ve closed a lot because they weren’t really going anywhere like I thought they would.

My hiking and trail running one are doing the best right now. I’ll probably just try to focus on them.

I really liked the admin niche and while my head keeps telling me to make another, I’m pushing against not doing it.

I do have a forum about blogging that I wish would take off, though.

When deciding on the forum domain name, what TLD or Top Level Domain do you go for?

For example, I exclusively always go for a .com because I’m old and a part of that culture that just wants to use the .com LOL

But I do have a .forum to see what it is like.

How about you all? Does this even matter to you?

How are you dealing with spam on your forum?

Do you get much spam? Do you set certain controls or features to help mitigate spam?

How often do you have to ban a spammer?

For me I love virtual currency systems so long as they’ve got a decent shop to use that accompanies it.
