Windows 11

I know we're an alternative platform forum but I have a feeling Windows is still being used by a few members here. Honestly that's absolutely fine if you're content with Windows, I myself am currently using Windows 11 but I also dual boot with Ubuntu. Anyways what are your thoughts on Microsoft's current OS? Do you hate it, do you like it I want to know how you feel about it!

I was worried about switching to Win11 from Win10 and honestly, the learning curve is small and I adjusted pretty well. It helps to have a faster laptop too since my old one was 10 years old and I didn't realize how bad it was crawling! There are a few quirks I don't like, such as setting my background and then when I want to change and revert back, it only has the default ones showing and I can't find my old ones (dual monitors). Then I have to hunt through my files to put them back in.

Honestly making the switch from Windows 10 to 11 was a lifesaver for me. I had too many issues with 10 on multiple computers so it was a breath of fresh air once I was able to move to 11 and I've had no issues with it myself. That does sound like a bit of a pain, but I'm sure it's much better than dealing with a slow computer! :)

I miss the fact that I could customize the Task bar in Windows 10. I prefer to have my Task bar along the left edge of my screen, slightly dragged out so I can read the application name of my running programs. Windows 11, we lost that customizability. I mostly keep Windows on my Desktop because I'm too lazy to install something different. It works. It lets me compile Unreal Engine stuff whenever I have a wild hair to do so. But I'll probably migrate away from Microsoft completely when 12 is coming out. Rumor has it that it will be completely subscription based, meaning that you'll have to pay a monthly fee-- like with Office just to use your computer that you PAID for. And I'm totally not cool with that.

Oh yeah once Microsoft decides to make us pay a monthly subscription fee, I'm done with Windows for good. I can't fully make the commitment to Ubuntu since there are Sonic hacking tools that only work on Windows. Sure I could try to use a virtual machine to use them but what's the point when I already dual boot with Windows 11 and Ubuntu?

Microsoft could force a rolled out upgrade like they did from Windows 10 to 11.
