Which game seriously tested your patience but you somehow managed to finish? Boss battles and rage-quits welcome.
Dark Souls is the hardest game I beat. It took me months to complete it, but I felt fulfilled when I finally did. I appreciate games that are very challenging.
To put it mildly—referring to Dark Souls 1 and 2, and Demon’s Souls—I knew they were difficult, but I hadn’t imagined just how hard they actually were. The thing is, the game forces you to lose many times when you first start playing, right up until you begin to understand how it works. Naturally, someone who has already beaten the game can start a new playthrough without losing nearly as often—or, in some cases, without losing at all.

Those games doesn't show mercy at all. They teach you through pain. Like you said, the game forces you to lose until you understand. That's exactly the truth.
