What makes a video game truly addictive?

E eLdavis · 6 days ago · 2 replies · 22

A truly addictive video game keeps players wanting to come back. It could be the exciting storyline, challenging missions, rewarding progression, competitive multiplayer or the freedom to explore. Sometimes, it's that feeling of always having one more achievement to unlock.

What makes you keep playing a game for hours: its gameplay, rewards, storyline or the desire to become stronger?

They are different reasons why I can spend time playing each game and for different durations. I can stick to some games because of its storyline and gameplay. Some it's about my achievement and the rewards it offers. But I know some people get addicted to games because of its ·social Connection · and lack of Other Interests.

None of them are truly addictive; you’d have to be a real idiot to become "addicted" to a video game. However, what makes you want to play a game—first and foremost—is that it’s the type of game you enjoy (which varies from person to person). Secondly, you need to like the mechanics and actually have fun while playing. Once those conditions are met, you’ll naturally want to play the game repeatedly, simply because you find it so enjoyable.
