How Do You Rebuild Your Life When the Plan You Spent Years Following Stops Making Sense?

Starting over can be frightening because it may feel like all those years were wasted. But perhaps those experiences still gave us skills, lessons, relationships, and a better understanding of what we actually want. The difficult part is accepting that changing direction doesn't necessarily mean you've failed. If the plan you've followed for years suddenly stopped making sense, how would you decide what to keep, what to let go of, and where to go next?

Adapt the plan to my current life, or look for a new plan that fits where I am right now—if I couldn’t achieve the goal set out in the original plan, perhaps I can now achieve a different goal within a new plan, right?

To be very honest, starting again from scratch is one of the most difficult things to do. It is even harder when much of your identity is tied to that things you have spent years building. Starting from scratch would demand that you detach your emotions from that venture and accept reality that it is not working again.
