Why Do Some Villains Have More Memorable Voices Than Heroes?

E eLdavis · 2 weeks ago · 1 reply · 72

Have you ever noticed that you can sometimes remember a villain's voice years after watching a movie, show, or playing a game, even when you struggle to remember the hero's? Villains often get distinctive voices—deep, unusual, exaggerated, calm, raspy, or strangely cheerful—which immediately make them stand out. What villain has a voice you could recognize almost instantly, and what makes it so memorable?

For me, it would probably be The Joker, especially Mark Hamill's version. His laugh is a huge part of it, but even his normal voice has that slightly unpredictable, creepy quality that makes him instantly recognizable. It’s one of those voices where you can hear just a few seconds and know exactly who it is.
