Why Do Studios Keep Rebooting Classic Movies That Never Needed a Remake?

E eLdavis · 2 weeks ago · 8 replies · 122

Every few years, a beloved movie from the past gets a remake, reboot, or modern reimagining. Sometimes the new version brings something fresh to the story, but other times fans wonder why a movie that already worked needed to be touched at all. Do you think studios should stop remaking classic movies, or can a good remake give an old story a new life?

Studios are short of ideas or they don't have any at all. That is why we keep seeing nonsense reboots all over.

I think studios should only get into remaking classic movies when they know they have something better to add to it which the fans would love so much.

Sometimes movies need reboot because they are so good that every generations should watch. Since people do not have interest in watching old version, they should be remade. However, sometimes rebooting is just greed, they want to work on a proven formula

This is why I love that they decided to make a movie based on the stage show of Wicked rather than immediately just doing a remake of The Wizard of Oz. This is the same as Wonka as they got to tell his backstory. I think these backstory films based on everyone’s favorite movies are great.

It’s a mix of running out of ideas and knowing that nostalgia sells. Even if a film doesn’t need a reboot people will still be intrigued to watch a reboot or remake of their favorite movies.

The movie studios are completely out for money. Immediately they see that a movie gained traction. They will want to continue making money from it. They rely on nostalgia to cash out.

Studios keep rebooting because they lack new ideas and remakes is safe in that situation. They know that fans will always be curious about what is going to happen next.

Because they’re greedy and want easy money. Some films actually do need a remake, but others don’t need one at all—they’re made solely to cash in on nostalgia. And look how that turns out: it’s a disaster. Many remakes are awful and are hated by a lot of people.
