What Makes a Live Performance Memorable?

E eLdavis · 2 weeks ago · 6 replies · 109

A great live performance can stay in your memory long after the show is over. Sometimes it's the artist's voice and stage presence, while other times it's the energy of the crowd, the atmosphere, the lighting, or a completely unexpected moment. What makes a live performance truly memorable for you: the artist, the atmosphere, the crowd, or that unexpected moment you never saw coming?

Live performance are always memorable when the artist connect with the crowd and the energy is right. Especially when it's your favourite artist and they sing your favourite song.

I remember a live band by Passenger asking all the audience to sing along with him. This will be an amazing experience for everyone in attendance and they will not forget it anytime soon.

There are some artists that bring some audience to the stage as well. Unforgettable experience.

For me, it is about the vocal delivery of an artist live on stage and the stage presence of the artist that makes a live performance very memorable. An artist that has vocal dexterity and can command his or her performance to carry the crowd along always leaves memories in my head.

There are many factors, but the easiest way to sum up the answer is that their live performance needs to have 'magic'—that quintessential magic inherent in music and live shows when an artist (or artists) is in their prime. It’s a combination of many elements, as the quality of a performance—whether it’s truly fantastic or not—also depends on the audience and the support and excitement they bring to the live setting.

The last live performance I saw was BTS in concert on both days back in July, and those two concerts still sit in the back of my mind, and I still have good memories from both of those concerts.

What made both these concerts so memorable for me was not only their voices, which are amazing live; the recordings that we have to listen to at home don’t do their voices justice at all, but also seeing them perform dances to their songs. They are so in sync without much effort; it’s amazing to see, and also just their personalities.

No BTS concert is ever the same, and I love that; each concert venue gets a different thing, making the live concerts even more memorable.

I’ve never been to a concert. I wanted to see my favorite band of all time at the 9:30 Club in DC decades ago but I was too nervous. 🙁
