Why Do Old Songs Sometimes Feel Better Than New Ones?

E eLdavis · 2 weeks ago · 4 replies · 112

Have you ever played an old song you haven't heard in years and immediately wondered why music doesn't hit the same way anymore? 😂 Some older songs seem to carry a certain emotion, melody, or simplicity that makes them easy to remember and enjoy even decades later. Do old songs genuinely sound better, or does nostalgia make them feel better than they actually were?

Old songs feel better because of nostalgia and the memories they carry. I don't know if this is peculiar to me- music from my youth still sticks with me. I feel that songs from the 90s and 2000s hit differently.

Most likely when we heard the old songs we didn’t really connect with it as we have not experienced the life yet. But as time goes on, some things happen that make us relate with the songs, so we tend to appreciate them more that the new ones we listen to.

I feel that when it comes to old songs, they tend to feel better on a listen after a while because of the memories that specific songs carry for you.

I also feel that older songs sound a lot different because a lot of the technology that we have now was never around back when older songs were recorded, so hearing that kind of sound again after hearing newer music is, in a sense, like listening to new music again.

I actually believe that artists of old actually put in more efforts to make songs than today's artists. You could relate with the melodies used to make some of the older generations songs and the lyrics were singable. It seems songs today are just shallow. Of course, there are exceptions.
