Mutual funds can be quite risky. There are various problems associated with mutual funds. In many cases, mutual funds do not offer high returns. Inflation rate could grow much faster than those returns. Moreover, the value of funds could decline during financial crisis. This is what happened during the 2008 financial crisis.

No question there is risk involved with mutual funds. Though, granted, said risk varys pretty widely depending on the fund. While the risk is present, the are also a fantastic way to build wealth and plan for major life events like an education or retirement. As with all financial matters, one must know their risk tolerance and final goal before investing.

Indeed, mutual funds are incredibly risky. Many people lost money during the 2008 financial crisis. Many mutual fund investors also lost money during that period. The same thing happened during the COVID-19 pandemic period as well. It is much better to invest money in real assets such as good, silver, oil, etc.
