Much as one would like no senior should do what youngsters attempt - vigorous exercising I am a senior and my Physiotherapist recommends that I walk for a few minutes often during the day but never long stretches

Few minutes walk is so underrated, walking for ten to fifteen minutes is extremely effective for the elderly. Your diet also plays an impressive role as well.

The need to exercise will vary for each individual. And definitely, seniors should never attempt the exercises done by youngsters. It is because of age, I would say.

I recommend brisk walking. If you are not handicapped, you can walk. I can't tell you how many elderly people I've seen out walking in my neighborhood. My late husband's mother loved to walk.

If you ae a senior please take care as brisk walk may not always be the best for seniors as a small pebble on the ground can result in a fall.

I'm 59 and when the weather permits, I try to get out and do at least a 3 mile hike. We have some hilly trails and it's a really great workout! I'll keep doing my hikes as long as my body allows and we also have a 1 mile paved trail at a park that is easier to do whenever I need a change.
