Why is it so hard to get new topics? On my Spark Promotion listing I've put this:
* Topics are appreciated — We encourage you to start new discussions, ask interesting questions, share ideas, and give members something new to talk about. Don't feel like you have to only reply to existing topics.
You can allow threads and disallow replies for a while, but I assume most posters are more comfortable with replies.

You can set your content targets just to show threads, which may help with thread creation if that is what you are looking for 🙂
