User group colors

I went to change the color of a user group under the groups link and when I add CSS to change or just a straight hex color it doesn't work. Any help in the right direction would be great.

I think you can add a class under each group. Then use those class names in CSS for different colors and so on. I have not had the time to really look at it yet.

@fords8 is right, you can add custom classes or just use one of the classes already applied to the userlink. That's typically .username .username--{groupid}.

The complete list by default is:

.username--1 {
    /* Guests: 1 */
}
.username--2 {
    /* Banned: 2 */
}
.username--3 {
    /* Members: 3 */
}
.username--4 {
    /* Global Moderators: 4 */
}
.username--5 {
    /* Moderators: 5 */
}
.username--6 {
    /* Admin: 6 */
}

Up until earlier this week it was possible to use BB Code and create a custom format. Since you posted this question it really got me thinking that depending on CSS to style these group links is not the most user-friendly way of dealing with it. So I've decided that the original 'format' option for groups will be re-instated.

Thank you both for helping out. @Jamie the format worked out great and is very user-friendly.
