Forums are on the decline, I think people and AI are already working together in many ways, so to answer your question sure i think it will help keep forums alive.
I think AI can both help and hurt forums depending on the skill level of the person managing the forum. I’ve been on forums that were an AI mess, and others where I barely knew AI had been implemented, and when it was discovered, I found it to be helpful.
