Moderator Guides and Training

When adding a moderator to your team, do you just add them and turn them loose?

Or do you offer some kind of moderator guide or training?

Do you think moderators would do better and stick around if they have a training program or guide to work with?

On some forums I prefer to do training and that’s because they need to learn how the owner wants moderation done. Some sites give a grace PM before actual warnings begin.

I put together a guide on one of the forums I run but haven’t had a new mod in such a long time that it’s probably all outdated.
