Do you try to support local authors near you? Why or why not?

If so, who do you like to support?

We don't really have any famous New Zealand authors. I guess we do have Witi Ihimaera who wrote the book (Which got adapted into a film) The Whale Rider. Another could be Eleanor Catton whom wrote The Luminaries.

Most New Zealand authors don't get famous throughout the world.

I really should support more local authors. I'm really bad about things like that though!! Some of their books about the local history sounds really interesting!

There are a couple of local authors that I know and I try my best to support their work. I even have their books autographed. I've read some of them while others are sitting on my to be read pile.
