What is your favorite forum software and why?

I am using phpBB quite successfully now and I also liked using XenForo in the past. There is also other forum software that I like but haven't used as an admin like: Wolt Lab, WordPress (wpForo, exactly), SMF etc..

And I like phpBB because I can integrate a lot of mods like and it's all free (But I do use a paid theme on all my phpBB sites) and I like XenForo because it has a lot of built-in functionality.

My favourite forum software is, without a doubt, Xenforo when it comes to premium forum software. I love how you get everything you need to run a successful community out of the box and how customizable Xenforo is, too.

When I think about open-source free forum software and my favourite, that would have to be MyBB. I think it is a shame that it is no longer updated as much as it used to be.

Xenforo is my favorite software. I've been using it for a long time now, and it provides all my needs as a forum owner. I used to love vBulletin as well, but then Xenforo came along.

I also like Invision community, but it is not a software that I would use on my own forum, as Xenforo is my #1 forum software.

For paid software my favorite is Woltlab Suite. Not only does it come with a forum, you get a CMS free of charge whenever you purchase a license for the forum software! For free software my favorite is Simple Machines. Finally for a free forum host, Forum Spark is my favorite!

I'd have to say that I'd recommend Forumotion, Proboards, Forum Spark and Jcink when it comes to free forum software.

I don't have any experience with paid forum software so I can't say anything there.

I used SMF for decades. I began from it's birth, prebirth actually, when it was YABB and then YABBse (back in 2003). It was (and still is) free, very flexible, customizable, and easy to navigate. However, the problem I found is that development has pretty much stalled. And I want something that's still growing with new features. I know, that's a lot to ask for in the Age of Social Media Platforms.

Last year, I began looking around to see what else was available, and I found more and more sites were using XenForo. I liked the interface as a user. It had most of the features I was looking for, so I made the swtich. The administration side of it is still a little difficult compared to the simplicity of SMF, and I suppose that I'll just need to get used to it. But the interface and sleekness is superiour to SMF. Although, I feel it's still missing some features that I miss-- like Drafts, but maybe there's a add-on for it?

I've always been a fan of paid forum software. This is why XenForo have always been by favorite forum software. In fact, when it comes to forums I love to manage as a staff, XenForo powered community is my favourite.

My favorite forum software is XenForo. It looks neat and modern and it has so many features. But it is quite expensive especially to a beginner. For the free options, MyBB is good because you can customise it.

I’m really liking Forum Spark. In many cases, it’s easier to use than XenForo. Great job @Cedric !

Other than that, XenForo is probably first. I like vBulletin 6, but not enough to use it full-time. I like Simple Machines. If I got away from paid software, I’d go right to SMF.

I tried WoltLab, but everything was super slow when using it. It just seemed bloated.

I don't know any forum software I don't like, generally speaking, but MyBB and the free version of Tapatalk have problems!

But MyBB now has some premium third party mods to get it back to speed - and I haven't tried premium Tapatalk.
