How many forums have you ran at once?

Nowadays, you sometimes see some forum owners who don't just own one forum, but they will instead run maybe two or more forums altogether.

Over the years, the most forums I ran at once were 3 at one time, and that was back when I had Chat Addicts and chose to move TV and Gaming away from Chat Addicts and create TV Addicts and Gaming Addicts. Unfortunately, it got too much, and I ended up merging them all back into Chat Addicts.

How many forums have you run at once? Could you run more than that? Do you feel like you could run more if you had ideas for more forums?

Currently, I am running two forums (one is under construction). I have ran as many as 3 forums at once. However, due to work load I shut one down and continue running two. When I sold one of the twos, I brought back the one that I had shut down.

I have up to 4 forums as we speak but it's difficult to keep up with them. Sometimes, they drive me nuts. 🤣 Navigating content creation, moderation and promotion is very overwhelming.

Running a multiple forums at once is undeed a serious work. I have try to run several forums before and it nearly killed me because I was so exhausted. The content creation, promotion, and moderation was way too much for one person to handle. I think you need to focus on one forum and make it successful before you think about another one.

I was doing that a few months ago. I had 11 of them going. It was too much. I was overwhelmed. The biggest thing was that all the bot traffic was making every website slow, and I didn’t want to have to spend a bunch of money on a dedicated server because forums were being hit the hardest.

Now I have 4, which is still a lot, but that’s where I draw the line. In fact, no more than 5, but trying to keep it under 5, so 4 is enough. One of them is a local forum that doesn’t get a lot of engagement. It’s mainly there to post stuff on a calendar, so I don’t really promote it that much.

Oh my! I’ve never had more than one forum at a time. I already have a blog that I’ve had for 7 years and I can’t imagine running more than 1 forum at a time since I already have that going.

I’ve created two forums so far, but I’ve only run one at a time. Managing a forum takes a lot of time and energy. You will have to create content and keep the community active by inviting people to post. I don’t think I’d have enough time to properly manage multiple forums simultaneously.

I’m currently running the most I’ve ever had right now I am running about 6, I have more than that but I honestly haven’t logged into a few of them in a very long time. One is a gaming forum that is still up on Proboards right now, one is Glitch Talk (which I was in the process of rebranding it into a discussion forum for Glitch the animation company) and I just opened another one up that I need to finish setting up before I promote it. I think it’s fine to have multiple ones if you can manage them, but if you feel like you can’t it’s also fine to try and either see if someone else wants to take them over or merge them if you can.

I always try to run only one at a time. Sometimes I have test forums to run tests but not really launch them.

Yes I too, only have one forum to fully focus on.

I’ve also, just started & created my very first blog ever.

Forums are quite hectic to organize discussions, moderate, & review users. I don't see myself running more at the moment.

I’d rather be doing great in one thing than poorly multi-tasking. But yes, maybe in the future for the sake challenge? I may try it out.
