Have you had an idea for a forum but been too scared to start it?

Over the years, I had so many different ideas for forums, but then I would overthink them and then would be scared to start them, believing they would flop.

This past year, though, I decided to move my BTS blog from WordPress to Xenforo and kept adding news to the site, but I also created a forum. So far, as much as I am creating content daily, I haven't gotten any members, but I do get hits, and traffic is increasing, but this forum is under a niche that may not be overly popular, as many of the BTS community tend to use social media over forums now.

Was I scared to move to Xenforo and create a BTS forum as well? Of course, but being a huge fan of BTS, it is something I am enjoying.

Have you ever had an idea for a forum but been too scared to start it?

For many years I had an idea to start a religious discussion and a political discussion forum but I was scared that it will become a toxic place. Last year I finally managed to create a forum but instead of just political or religious discussion forum, I decided to create a debate forum where there were categories like politics, religion, race, ethnicity, etc. I haven't released it for public posting, though

Many people are actually wait for a perfect idea meanwhile nothing is perfect. I launched one niche forum that I thought would flop, but somehow it gained reasonable traffic. Not big, but enough to keep me going.

I thought about starting a political forum, but it brings out a lot of ugly in people.

But it does spark a lot of discussion, possibly even from members not needing post exchanges or money in return.

Yes, I do have an idea and I know it would take off at first but then die out in about 2 months. Is it worth it to have the short time activity?

I haven’t really got any interest in running anymore forums. This was an exception as I still saw potential for this forum even though I went inactive. I saw people still signing up and posting.

I’m happy to just work on my blogs and private sites.

I have always been a user at forums and quite enjoy the experience. Knowing the hassles of owning a forum keeps me away

Forum Spark is great for that as you can focus on running a forum rather than having to do all the upgrades and technical stuff.

I have always thought Forum owners need to be technical ly sound. I am not For me it has always been tackling simple non technical issues.

I’d never be afraid to start a forum or website. If I have an idea that I believe has potential, I’ll give it a shot and see where it goes.

I don’t think scared is right word but online has changed a lot since forums were super popular so adapting to a different world is difficult. You need a lot of self drive these days to push a forum forwards

I’ve never really got scared to create a new forum. I’ve had countless ideas for them, and made quite a few different ones throughout the years but ultimately a good chunk of them died off because I didn’t give them enough time to flourish. Right now I have an idea for a forum, but I’m probably going to just integrate this idea with Thee Zone.

I don't have plenty of forum ideas as such but I'm scared to start because of the work involved. Running a forum is a serious commitment.

At one time, I thought about making an adult-rated forum. But then I got older, found love, and grew up and got out of that crap.

I love computer generated art (not just AI). I like stuff like 3D modeling. It’s a hobby like the model train one.

So in this case, I’ve considered making an art forum - but haven’t gotten around to it - but I have an art section on my Christian/general discussion forum.

I often wondered about making a general forum, but instead of having all the typical sections most general forums have, just include all my passions and hobbies as the boards and categories. That way, you keep it all on one forum.

That’s not really a general forum, but kind of like it. Well, my hosting forum is like that. It covers computer niches like: web development, coding, web design etc. but it’s not as broad as a true “general discussion forum”. I feel like general discussion topics would be too much for a hosting forum. It would look goofy.

But I have allowed a strange scenario for my Christian forum, but my Christian forum is more like a Christian life forum or a make-believe Christian university forum.
