🚀 Postloop Update: Reservations, Dashboard Improvements & More!
We've rolled out several improvements to Postloop today to make things easier for both writers and community owners! These updates focus on giving writers more time to complete their reservations, making deadlines clearer, and giving community owners greater control over their content targets.
Here's a closer look at what's changed!
⏰ Reservations Now Last a Full 24 Hours
Previously, reserved slots expired at midnight in the community's time zone. Depending on when you reserved your slots and where you lived, you could have been left with just a few hours to complete your posts.
That's now changed! Every reservation lasts a full 24 hours from the moment you reserve it, giving you a fairer and more predictable window to complete your work.
A quick reminder: You only receive credit for the posts you complete within your reservation period. For example, if you reserve 10 posts but only complete 7 before your reservation expires, you'll only receive credit for those 7. Completing the remaining 3 the following day won't count towards the expired reservation, so please keep an eye on your deadlines!
⏳ Live Countdown Timers for Writers
We've also made it much easier to see exactly how much time you have left to complete your reservations.
Previously, deadlines appeared in small print and used UTC, which wasn't always convenient.
Now, every reserved slot displays a live countdown timer, along with the deadline in your own local time.
The timer changes colour as your deadline approaches:
🟢 More than 3 hours remaining: Your timer stays in its normal state.
🟠 Less than 3 hours remaining: The timer turns amber.
🪸 Less than 1 hour remaining: The timer turns coral.
You'll also see a reminder on your dashboard when unused slots are approaching their expiry time.
These changes should make it much easier to manage your reservations and avoid losing credit for unfinished work!
🛠️ More Control Over Topic and Reply Targets
We've made some important improvements for community owners, too!
Previously, adjusting topic and reply targets could be frustrating. Owners couldn't lower a target below the number of posts already made plus all reserved slots, including expired reservations that remained held for up to 48 hours. It also wasn't easy to see how the system calculated those limits.
We've simplified the process!
Community owners can now:
Set topic and reply targets to any number, including 0 to turn that content type off completely.
See exactly how many posts have been completed and how many slots writers currently hold.
Understand why a target can't be lowered further.
Stop expired reservations and previously completed posts from blocking target adjustments.
The only restriction is the number of slots writers are actively holding.
For example, if writers currently hold 10 reply slots, Postloop will explain that you need to keep your reply target at 10 or higher until those reservations expire or are released.
Your integration page now provides a clearer breakdown of each target, the posts already completed, the slots currently held by writers, and when those reservations expire.
This gives community owners much better visibility and makes managing content requirements far less complicated!
💬 Clearer Messages for Writers
We've improved the messages writers see when they try to reserve slots in a community.
Previously, you might have seen a generic message saying that no slots remained within the community's target.
Now, Postloop will make it clearer whether the community owner has disabled that type of content or whether the current target has already been reached.
Less guesswork, clearer information, and a smoother experience for everyone!
⚡ A Faster Member Dashboard
Finally, we've made improvements to dashboard performance.
Moving between pages in your Postloop member dashboard should now feel quicker and smoother, helping you get to the information you need with less waiting around.
