What free hosting companies you like? I like Infinity Free, but the major problem is SSL certificates. Well, they need you to install free ones - but I'm terrible at it!
Hostinger/Hosting24. Been with them for years, no issues, no downtime and SSL whenever I need it.
Free hosting can be very tempting, but the limitations are just too much. It's slow, it has limited storage, and SSL issues as well. I have tried Infinity Free before, but I installed the SSL myself before I could use it.
I only ever used to use Freepgs.com. That was back in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Hostinger isn’t free and it’s free version - 000webhost - closed.
I remember 000webhost from about 20 years ago.
I remember that everyone who used it would start to get errors and downtime pretty quickly after establishing a small site or forum on it.
I never messed with it.
I have used 000webhost in the past, I liked them. But I am not sure if they are still operational.
I used free hosting to make some static guitar lesson site in the mid-2000s. I think it was called 50g dot com or something.
But I’ve not used free hosting since much. I’ve considered it, but, again, it’s tough to install those free SSLs and, unlike rent and food these days, paid hosting is affordable.
I’ve enjoyed Jcink, Proboards and Forumotion. I currently use Jcink and I like it a lot. I didn’t use to like it when I first saw it but it eventually grew on me.
I use to enjoy Zetaboards…..that is until it was bought out by Tapatalk. Now I wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole.
I don't like free forum hosting - because I'm too advanced for it, but I can understand it's appeal for those not wanting to spend money and/or not the web developer type.
Infinity Free is my favorite free host, I’ve never had any issues with them. You do need a domain name if you want a free ssl certificate but domains are pretty cheap. I used 000webhost in the past but my password on my account there ended up on a pastebin because their service got hacked once… After that happened I didn’t trust them anymore, but they’re no longer around. x10 hosting was another one I remember using but I don’t think they’re around anymore.
