Have you had success promoting your forum on Reddit?

I’m curious to see if anyone here has had success promoting their forums on Reddit. I was able to get new members on Gex Forums when I reached out to the moderators of the subreddit. He even promoted the forum on the subreddit, and he recently promoted it again which I thought was cool. I also got a good number of members on Mighty No. 9 Universe when the forum was brand new. Granted this was in 2013 and forums were still being used more often than Reddit. Still I think forum admins could potentially get new members by promoting their forums on Reddit, granted you should reach out to the moderators of whatever subreddit you’re promoting on.

I’ve actually only just started experimenting with Reddit for Chill Chat 😂 I’m trying to join in with communities rather than just swooping in, dropping a link and running away haha. I think Reddit can be really useful for finding people who genuinely miss forums/chatrooms, but you definitely have to respect each subreddit's rules. Still testing the waters though, so ask me again in a few months 🤣🙈

There is no bad promotion. You might not get new members by promoting on Reddit, but it never hurts trying. There’s nothing to lose, and you might even end up surprised.

Exactly 😂 I’m fully prepared for Reddit to either completely ignore me or randomly send us our next favourite chatter 🤣 There appears to be absolutely no in between over there 😂

I will admit, as much as I know that you can promote your forums on Reddit, I have always been cautious and never attempted to do so, because I am not sure what would be against the TOS or the rules of certain subreddits.

I have heard that you can get some success in promoting your forums on Reddit, though, so it would be something I would be interested in should I ever find the best way to do it.

I've actually tried and it didn't end well. Reddit is a very uptight community run by people who are not flexible in any way. Some subreddit would allow for promotion but when you do, they will still ban your account.
