How do I encourage members to start discussions?
Encouraging members to start discussions is something I find difficult, compared to how it used to be. I don’t know what it is, but I feel many are now afraid to start new topics for some reason, maybe in fear of doing something wrong, or even of not getting any interest in their content.
Sometimes seeing a blank new thread box can be daunting for some, and giving your members prompts for new chats can make starting new threads easier.
Audience listening.
It’s best to use this strategy before you even launch your forum.
Determine 3 to 6 pain points of your audience. Create boards on your forum for each of those pain points. That gives your audience a direct space to ask questions about what drives them nuts the most.
Then start asking questions that encourage replies around those pain points.
Be a leader, but give space for new topics to be asked.
