Have any of you ever dealt with racism on your forum?
For forums that put a lot of emphasis on free speech, where does racism stand in terms of that speech?
I will ban a racist, and I have rules against it. I’m proud to acknowledge that. IMO, racism doesn’t have a place in this world.
How about you all? Where do you stand? Have you ever dealt with it?
Racism is not right regardless of the situation.
Amusing story but my first forum I censored all of the racial slurs. Well I made it change the word “cracker(s)” to “white person(s)”.
Months later I wasn't thinking and started a topic about food and started talking about actual crackers to eat and the whole paragraph was very confusing. 🤣 It was then I realized I went overboard.
But on topic, I don’t tolerate it at all.
Any community I run or govern has rules enforced by bans for racist and derogatory remarks. It comes with an immediate, permanent ban.
It’s 2026, there is no place in the world for that, period. Had I been alive back in the day, I’d probably of died early on standing up to people who were/are racist.
I have always been against racism, and I do not feel it is right, no matter where or how it takes place.
I would never allow any kind of racism on my forum at all, and any sign of it, without warning, the member would be banned.
I’m against any form of harassment, and that goes for racism. It also goes for homophobia and transphobia, all three are rooted in bigotry. I always make a rule to treat others with respect, regardless of your own views. If you can’t do that, then you are not welcomed on any of my communities.
It’s kind of difficult thing to deal with. For instance, there’s one obvious holocaust denier and racist, but it’s sort of “under the radar”.
Well, I guess the line gets crossed when they use racial slurs.
