🪓 Has anyone heard of Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story?

I recently started watching Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story on Netflix and I'm five episodes in so far — and I'm really enjoying it!

The series is the latest instalment in the Monster anthology from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. This season focuses on the infamous Lizzie Borden case, which dates back to 1892.

Lizzie Borden was accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe at their home in Fall River, Massachusetts. She was eventually acquitted, but the case has remained one of the most famous and controversial murder mysteries in American history.

The series stars Ella Beatty as Lizzie Borden, alongside Vicky Krieps, Charlie Hunnam, Rebecca Hall, Billie Lourd and Sarah Paulson. It takes the historical events and turns them into a dark, dramatic crime series, exploring Lizzie, her family and the events surrounding the murders.

I've really been enjoying the atmosphere and mystery of it so far. It's definitely one of those shows that makes you want to keep watching to see what happens next!

And if you've never heard of it before, does it sound like something you'd watch?

Ahhh I've got this on my watch list! 😂 I love watching stuff like this, especially when it's based on real events. I'm terrible for saying “just one more episode” and then suddenly it's 2am 🙈🤣

If you've seen any of the other seasons you'll understand that the word “based” on is used very lightly with Ryan Murphy. It's got some made up stuff but it's still worth the watch. Most things based on real life have stuff thrown into them.

Ahhh so it’s more “inspired by true events” than actually based on them then. I don’t think I’ve seen the other seasons, but I’m definitely going to give this one a watch! I do love a good true crime drama, even if they’ve added a bit of Hollywood to it 🤣

Ahh yes, I’ve seen the Ed Gein one! I actually really enjoyed that, so if this one’s anything like it, I’ll definitely be giving it a watch : ) I do love the Monster series!

I just saw the trailer and I'm definitely hooked already. There's going to be so much blood and butchering in the movie. I'll be watching it this weekend.
