Do you use password managers?

Midnight Gremlin · 3 weeks ago · 11 replies · 184

Password managers have been gaining popularity for some time now. Some even claim that they can never be breached and that your passwords are 100% secure. I don't believe that, but I haven't done any research on it. Also, what happens if you lose your password for your password manager?

I still think that the best password manager is my physical notebook. It's not online and it cannot be accessed without my permission.

Do you use a password manager? If you do, which one? Do you have any concerns over the security?

My phone and laptop have the one built into the Chrome browser.

Regardless if you have password manager or not its company servers where your password is held that gets leaked. My credit report tool shows my details on dark web thanks to multiple sites being hacked.

You should change your passwords frequently. I do that every 3 months or whenever I suspect something. Better to be safe than sorry later on.

I haven’t used one. I think having a place where all your passwords are stored is a great way to lose everything. We were always taught in school to never save your password anywhere and that’s what I do. Ease of access is never as easy as it seems and if that program ever has an exploit that ‘ease of access' just lost all of it’s value when you’re forced to change all of your passwords 🥲

What do you think about saving your passwords on a physical piece of paper? It doesn't have auto fill, but it guarantees security. Also, I would avoid having that piece of paper in front of the camera of my phone.

Yes, I use so many websites, forums, programs, and so on that it’s impossible to remember all the passwords. Besides, I don't usually use the same password everywhere—that would be very insecure—so I do use a password manager and I'm very happy with it; I use KeePassXC, and I think it's excellent.

I have never used a password manager. I reckon that I am just too paranoid about it. Having said that, I believe that you must really use a good password manager if you actually want to use them. I really prefer to write down my password or remember them instead of using password manager. This is what I personally prefer.

My wife does that but it doesn’t guarantees security. At any point someone can stumble across it and now know how to log into everything of yours. My wife keeps it in the filing cabinet so that’s a lot safer than just leaving it out but she needs to go through and look at it for everything XD

I don't use a password manager. So, I store the password in my memory and a small notebook. I don't really trust those passwords manager apps. But it's a little more secure than using one password everywhere.
