Should Manufacturers Provide Longer Software Support for Phones?

A smartphone can still work perfectly well after several years, but outdated software can eventually become a problem. Security updates stop, some apps may no longer support the device, and users can feel pressured to buy a new phone even when their current one still meets their needs.
