🎬 Toy Story 5 – Movie Review

🎥 About the Film

Toy Story 5 brings Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the gang back for another adventure, this time exploring the growing influence of technology on children and the challenges traditional toys face in a world increasingly dominated by screens and digital devices.

The film tackles some very relevant modern-day issues, including screen time, the impact of technology on childhood, and how bullying can take place through digital platforms. It's a message that will undoubtedly resonate with many parents and families.

🍿 My Review

I might be in the minority here, but I just didn't enjoy Toy Story 5 as much as I hoped I would.

I understand what Pixar was trying to achieve with this instalment. The themes surrounding technology, children's screen habits and online bullying are important, particularly in today's world. There is certainly a worthwhile message at the heart of the film, and I can appreciate the intention behind it.

Unfortunately, for me, the story itself just didn't really get going. It felt like a bit of a non-starter, lacking the spark and excitement that made the earlier films so memorable. While it wasn't outright bad, I found myself struggling to get invested in the overall adventure.

For a franchise with such a strong history of emotional storytelling, memorable characters and genuinely entertaining adventures, I expected something that would leave a bigger impression. Instead, this felt like a rather unnecessary addition to the series.

I can see why others might enjoy it, especially families who appreciate the film's underlying message, but having an important message doesn't automatically make for a great movie.

🏁 Final Verdict

Toy Story 5 isn't a complete disaster, but it was a disappointment for me. The message is relevant, and I respect what Pixar was aiming for, but the story simply wasn't strong enough to make this another standout entry in the franchise.

Sometimes, it's okay to let a beloved series rest rather than keep adding new chapters.

⭐ My Rating: 2/5 – Not terrible, but not one I'd rush to watch again.

Haven't watched it yet, but honestly, I feel they should have stopped a long time ago; it would have been better rather than force prolonging the franchise.

1 & 2 were enough in my eyes

I was wondering why you didn't use the review tag or have this in movies… wrong forum 🤣

I think they need to stop making these movies and come up with original ideas.

I think the first three movies make for a fantastic saga—more than enough, really. I didn't dislike the fourth one; in fact, I quite liked it—obviously not as much as the first three, but it was pretty good. I don't think any more movies are needed; when they start churning them out at every opportunity just to keep making money by overexploiting a franchise, they start to ruin it. I haven't seen the fifth one yet, and honestly, I'm not expecting much. Even if I do watch it and it turns out to be decent, it makes no sense for them to keep releasing films. It's the same story with Shrek: it's unnecessary, and the only result is ruining a legendary film series.
