Diabetes

Do you, or do you know anyone with diabetes? I've got type 2 and I've had it for over ten years. It can get costly though because I get sensors that go on my arm that pick up my blood sugar levels and I can track it through my phone but they're around $50 NZD per 15 days.

I've had diabetes for over 10 years. I use those sensors too and will be taking a shot weekly to help with my A1C.

I can get a weekly injection instead of taking one of my pills but I've got needle anxiety so that's a no from me. 😛

You're right. It is every 3 months. My a1c is 10. (I think) what's yours?

I don’t have diabetes but I am pre-diabetic. Therefore, I strictly monitor my diet. I also have a glucometer that I use to check my blood glucose level every week. My father is diabetic, he has been under medication for years but thankfully it is controlled.

My mom has diabetes, but it is not too serious. She is about 55 years old. She regulates what she eats a lot as she eats more of food that doesn't have much carbohydrates. She checks her blood sugar level everyday. And she has a bitter leaf plant at the back of the house which she extracts and drinks to control the blood sugar when it spikes.

I don't have diabetes but I know a few old people who does. Some of them are friends I meet in the hospital. It's a nasty health problem to suffer from.

My husband has type 2 diabetes. We haven’t been the most consistent with his care because of money and life and other stressors, which I know is on us. He was in the hospital in June for a really bad diabetic ulcer on his foot. He almost had an amputation, but was able to overcome it. It was a terrifying month for us. When he got home, he had a PICC line with IV antibiotics. The whole thing was absolute hell. He’s gotten back on track with his meds, thankfully, and we are taking his foot care very seriously. His mom is also type 2.

I have 100% insulin resistance, so I am now on Metformin for that. Kind of crazy, honestly, to know that’s why I haven’t been able to lose weight. I am not diabetic at all, but if we don’t get my insulin resistance under control, then I could be very easily.

I've had a couple of diabetic ulcers on my foot but they haven't been too bad. They take forever to get rid of though.

Yeah they do take forever. It’s crazy. Thankfully he has great blood flow to his feet, so he fought this off. He’s so lucky.

They've said my feet are good even though I can't feel them most of the time.

I do not have diabetes. However, my uncle had diabetes and he died from gangrene which was caused by diabetes. He burnt his foot and it got damaged beyond repair. The main problem with diabetes is the fact that once you get burned, recovery becomes extremely difficult. Any kind of injury could prove to be fatal. This is why people with diabetes should take care of themselves. You could manage diabetes by exercising and making sure that you use insulin injections properly. Diet also plays a major role as well.

Circulation issues. One of the easier things to get when it comes to diabetes 🙁

That’s part of the circulation issues people with diabetes can get.

My mom and grandma have it and it has cause a lot of other health issues as well. Crazy how expensive it is to have diabetes and try to manage it.

I just hope it doesn't get worse. 🙁

There are pills that people can get put on for it but sadly once the circulation starts going it’s very dificult (or impossible although not sure) of fixing it 🙁 It is often caused by high blood sugars over a long period of time.
