Sadly I do think we are. :(
I try to do some activities without depending so much on technology. Yes, I still need the help of technology for some other activities, but it is always on occasions that I can handle the whole stuff.
I think people need to know "under the hood" before resorting to toys that make math, spelling etc. easier. It's really lazy that some people might just want tools, but don't want to have a deeper knowledge of things. Anyway, it should be law, and I'm sure it is, that kids need adequate math, spelling etc. skills.
However, though, many people in my nation, the USA, cannot read or cannot read well, even despite graduating high school.

I would want to know. Are you saying that those who are struggling with reading and handling basic mathematical problems depended so much on technology to always come through for them?

That's not why many of them became illiterate. However, of course, they use technology to be able to function in life and who can blame them?
Unfortunately, the answer to this question is a big YES. It's practically impossible for the world not just an individual to survive without technology now. More than 90% of our daily lives activities need technology to pull through.

It seems like everyone worldwide is dependent on cellphones. That fact alone confirms what I'm talking about.
Unfortunately, I do think we are now too dependent on technology. When you think about it, just about everything we do now from working to even watching movies, tv shows, or even listening to music, we tend to do that via technology.
Even now, when we lose access to the internet due to outages, we lose access to everything unless we have something set up to be able to watch TV somehow still.
With how technology is going and the constant moves to everything being online, I feel like we will continue to be dependent on technology and even more so going forward.
