Will forums ever truly die?

Ravenfreak · 4 months ago · 2 replies · 150

I think some people think that forums will die when those who use them die. I think they're here to stay even after the people who tend to use them more end up dying. We've got social media companies adding forum like features to their platform, so clearly even they know that forums are the superior way of building a community. Places like Discord rolled out their versions of forums a few years ago, and someone mentioned in Reddit Alternatives that Bluesky is looking at Reddit for inspiration and the person mentioned that "social media platforms should look at ways to implement forums into their sites." Clearly there's a need for forums, hopefully these people will wake up and start using the real deal over watered down versions soon.

Lol because I love forums! I guess I don't really state my opinion on the matter though in the opening post lol, I don't think they'll ever truly die because we use them and people will eventually discover them too. I've brought up forums on Discord and even Root in the past and people agreed with me that companies should use forums for tech support not Discord or another chat client like Root.
