Is the Internet Becoming Too Crowded With Advertisements?

E eLdavis · 1 day ago · 2 replies · 29

Online advertisements are everywhere these days, from websites and social media platforms to streaming services and mobile apps. While they help businesses reach potential customers, constant pop-ups, banners and video ads can make browsing frustrating.

Do you think the internet is becoming too crowded with advertisements, or are ads simply part of the price we pay for accessing free online content?

I barely look at online ads anymore, tbh. You get to the point where you go to the same sites and avoid looking at that banner ad at the top, in the center or off to the side. Sometimes the blinking ones will make me look, but they’re annoying so I scroll to get them out of my range of sight.

I’ve seen forums go overboard with Google ads and other advertising. I get it — running a forum costs money, and owners need to make a living. But there’s a point where it becomes excessive. Don’t bombard people with ads to the point where they’re practically being forced to choose between leaving the community permanently or paying for a VIP subscription just to enjoy an ad-free experience. There’s a balance, and some forums seriously need to find it.
