Should AI Be Allowed to Automatically Remove Posts It Considers Offensive?

E eLdavis · 23 hours ago · 3 replies · 16

Online forums often struggle with offensive comments, hate speech, harassment, and personal attacks. AI could help keep discussions respectful by detecting and removing harmful posts quickly. However, there's always the risk of it misunderstanding jokes, sarcasm, or harmless opinions and deleting comments that shouldn't be removed.

Should AI have the power to automatically remove posts it considers offensive, or should a human moderator review questionable comments before they're taken down?

It’ll get that way soon but AI isn’t perfect like humans but there is a risk as you say it misreads situations.

Oh, I agree! I mean it happens on Facebook already with their algorithms removing posts!

I think that many forums may face the challenge of being selectively removing offensive content when AI is integrated into forums. However, I reckon that by the passage of time, AI might get improved when it comes to detecting sarcastic comments and genuinely offensive comments. Integrating it right now would need a human moderator when it comes to reviewing content posted by users.
