A used car can look very different in a dealer advert from how it looked at auction. AllCarHistory keeps auction listings and photographs from Copart and IAAI, with model pages that let you compare cars from the same model year.

A few things to watch when using auction records:
- Match the whole VIN, not just the model, colour or a similar-looking photograph.
- Compare the auction date and lot number. A vehicle may have more than one listing.
- Check whether mileage is in miles or kilometres before comparing it with a sale advert.
- A recorded bid is not necessarily a confirmed sale price. Auction fees, transport, taxes and repairs are extra.
- No result does not prove a clean history: this is an incomplete archive, not a record of every damaged Cayenne.

The photos can help decide what to ask the seller and what an inspector should examine. They cannot show how well a repair was done. If you spot a record where the text and photos disagree, a VIN and a description of the mismatch would help get it checked.
