I like to think we all have a favorite voice actor or actress that we think does an amazing job no matter what character they play! My favorite voice actor is Dee Bradley Baker, he usually plays various monster voices in different cartoons and each one sounds super unique. He’s been in so many different cartoons, chances are you’ve heard his voice before in shows like Scooby Doo, Teen Titans, Justice League, etc. As for my favorite voice actress Tara Strong is my favorite. She plays Raven’s voice from Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go, she also voiced Dill in Rugrats too.
I dislike it when movie characters are always voiced by Hollywood actors like Chris Pratt, Dwayne Johnson or Ryan Reynolds when there are so many highly skilled voice actors out there. I have nothing against them personally, but I think voice actors deserve more opportunities too.
Have you ever noticed that you can sometimes remember a villain's voice years after watching a movie, show, or playing a game, even when you struggle to remember the hero's? Villains often get distinctive voices—deep, unusual, exaggerated, calm, raspy, or strangely cheerful—which immediately make them stand out. What villain has a voice you could recognize almost instantly, and what makes it so memorable?
When we first see a character, we naturally form an expectation of what they should sound like. A huge, intimidating character might seem like they should have a deep voice, while a small or youthful character might be expected to sound lighter. But does a character's voice really need to match their appearance?
Sometimes a character isn't particularly complex, powerful, or well-written, yet people remember them for years. One reason could be the person behind the voice. A talented voice actor can give an ordinary character personality through tone, timing, emotion, humor, and even the smallest change in delivery. Have you ever loved a character mainly because of the voice actor who brought them to life?
A character can have an amazing design, personality, backstory, and character development, but sometimes the voice just doesn't feel right. The tone, accent, pitch, delivery, or even the way certain lines are emphasized can completely change how we perceive them. Do you also think the same way?
Some voices are so distinctive that you can recognize the person within seconds, even if you aren't looking at the screen. Sometimes it's the tone, pitch, accent, rhythm, or the way they pronounce certain words. Other times, it's simply a unique quality in their voice that is difficult to describe. What do you think makes a voice instantly recognizable, and whose voice can you identify almost immediately?
There have been a lot of understandably frustrated people online wondering why Jim Cummings still hasn’t received a Disney Legends award at D23. Jim himself has even spoken out about it.
When you consider just how much Jim has contributed to Disney over the decades, particularly through some of its most iconic voice roles, it’s surprising that he still hasn’t been recognized as a Disney Legend.
Seeing The Rock receive the honor before one of Disney’s most recognizable and beloved voice actors does make the situation feel pretty disappointing.
