Moderator Guides and Training

When adding a moderator to your team, do you just add them and turn them loose?

Or do you offer some kind of moderator guide or training?

Do you think moderators would do better and stick around if they have a training program or guide to work with?

How welcoming are your members to newbies?

How welcoming are your members to newbies? Do they say hello or welcome in the newcomer’s welcome thread? Do they reach out on their profiles to say Greetings or something else? Or do they mostly stick to talking to the people they know on the forum?

How many staff titles and positions do you offer on your forum?

Just administrators and moderators, or maybe just moderators?

Holiday Month Forum

What do you all think about this idea?

Let’s say you make a forum for Halloween or Christmas discussions.

However, the month of October (or December) is the only time the forum is open.

After that, you shut the forum down until the next holiday next year.

Seems odd, but do you think it’s enough to make people want to join in so they can converse for the month before it’s too late?

Scarcity marketing if you will.

Posting Unique Content from Experience

One thing I try to do on the sites I own or am on staff at is to post unique content based on my own experience. I think it gets people to respond better with more sincere conversation than saying what their favorite browser is. Engagement could bring them back again to the site to continue posting, whereas having the same content that everyone else has doesn’t give your site anything new or different to lure them in.

Do you find that to be true too? What kinds of experiences do you post about that gains traction?

Bug Report: Custom Page Titles Not Displayed in Browser Tab

Issue: Custom pages created through the admin panel do not display their page titles in the browser tab.

Description:

When creating a custom page through the ForumSpark admin panel, the page title does not appear in the browser tab. Instead, the browser tab only displays the forum name, regardless of which custom page is being viewed.

Examples from Spark Promotion:

For all three pages, the browser tab displays only Spark Promotion, rather than including the individual page title.

Expected Behaviour:

The browser tab should display the page title followed by the forum name, for example:

  • About Spark Promotion | Spark Promotion

  • FAQ | Spark Promotion

  • Rules | Spark Promotion

Ideally, the page title should be automatically included in the HTML <title> tag for each custom page, improving browser tab identification, usability, and SEO.

Actual Behaviour:

Only the forum name is displayed in the browser tab, with no indication of which custom page the visitor is viewing.

Request:

Could this be investigated and fixed so that custom pages created through the admin panel automatically use their individual page titles in the browser's title tag?

Thanks!

Custom Emoticons

I’d like to suggest an option to allow custom emoticons appear in the Emoji section of the editor with the default Emojis, instead of only having the separate picker. I think it’s possibly confusing to someone who doesn’t realize there is two sections for Emojis.

Bug Report: SparkCoins Not Showing in Profiles or Posts

Forum: Spark Promotion — https://sparkpromotion.net/

Description

I've enabled the relevant settings in the ForumSpark credits system, but SparkCoins balances aren't showing in member profiles or post mini profiles on Spark Promotion.

The following settings are enabled:

  • Show in mini profile — Display the credit balance in post mini profiles.

  • Show in profile — Display the credit balance on member profiles.

  • Show leaderboard — Show the top-earners widget and page.

Despite enabling these options, the SparkCoins balances aren't appearing where expected.

Expected Behaviour

Members should be able to see their SparkCoins balances in their post mini profiles and full profiles when the relevant settings are enabled.

Actual Behaviour

The balances aren't displaying, even though the settings are enabled.

Could someone investigate whether this is a bug or if an additional configuration step is required?

Thanks!

PHP vulnerabilities patched

On 21 October 2026, the PHP project released fixes for two critical security vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) affecting PHP installations worldwide.

We acted on the advisory as soon as we could. A temporary protective measure was in place while we waited for the official patches, and all ForumSpark servers were updated to the patched PHP versions as soon as they became available.

No action is needed from board owners or members. Your forums remain online and work as usual.

If you have any questions, contact our support team.

Feature Suggestion: Add a Reset Option to the Credits System

Suggestion

It would be great to have an administrator-only reset option for the ForumSpark credits system.

I had the credits system disabled on my forum, Spark Promotion, for a while and recently enabled it again. However, the old SparkCoins balances were still there. I would have liked the option to start everyone fresh with a zero balance.

Suggested Features

  • Add a Reset Credits button in the administrator settings.

  • Allow administrators to reset all members' credit balances to zero.

  • Include a confirmation prompt to prevent accidental resets.

  • If possible, provide options to reset the leaderboard and transaction history as well.

Why This Would Be Useful

This would be particularly helpful for forums restarting their rewards programmes, launching a new credits-based competition, or simply wanting to give everyone a fresh start.

The reset should be optional and restricted to administrators so existing balances aren't accidentally lost.

Thanks for considering this suggestion!
