What's your biggest fear in life?
Mine happens to be tornadoes!!
What’s your favorite season?
Why is it your favorite season?
An FKT stands for Fastest Known Time.
Many athletes try to beat FKTs on different trails.
Some runners feel that FKTs take away the fun in a sport and make others feel like they have to compete in order to be someone.
What do you all think?
How do you feel about the FKT world?
One of my favorite trails where I walk, and others run, it’s hunting season for archery and will be hunting season until probably February of next year for various game and the ways that they can be killed. High visibility orange clothing is mandatory and usually I just avoid that trail except on certain Sundays where hunting is forbidden. But I’d like to look into getting something orange to wear without it being too expensive.
If you’re in a similar situation, what do you wear?
I picked me up some new trail running shoes from the Missouri Running Co.
Brooks Cascadia 20
I love them so far. I’ve put about 10 miles on them, so they’re still pretty new.
They’re more comfortable than the Merrells I was using before.
Any of you ever worn these shoes?
Enjoyed a nice 10K trail run yesterday during the evening.
Distance: 6.2mi
Pace: 15:14/mi
Run time: 1:35:47
Elevation gain: 551ft
Weather was still a bit warm, but we’re having a cool down this week.
I’m going to try adding a second run a week this week and beyond.
Reply with the next letter in the alphabet but with a movie.
I’ll start:
Avengers
I like to hike bike and run, looking forward to sharing about it with everyone!
As a trail runner, does your pace matter to you at all?
Running on the road gives you better control over pace, but on the trail, there are so many elements that cause us to not be able to maintain a consistent pace.
Do you try to maintain a certain pace nonetheless or do you not really care about pace?
What kind of running hoodie or winter shirts are you all using for trail running in the winter?
Do you use a certain brand or just go for whatever is cheap?
How many miles of trail running do you get in a year?
Do you keep track of your miles at all?
Is your mileage increasing year-by-year at all?
Could you run every day as part of your training?
Even if it was low impact running most days?
Do you think this would make you better or hurt you?
Do you use shoe gaiters for trail running?
Do you find they protect your feet from debris?
What gaiters are you using and do your trail running shoes have features for using gaiters?
How many friends do you have that shares your same passion for trail running?
How often do you look for friendship among those in the trail running community?
Is it easy for you to find these people or difficult?
I haven’t gone out and trail run since my 50K in August.
There are a few reasons. First, we’ve had a lot of excessive heat warnings, and that has scared me away. Second, I pulled something in my leg, and it hurt almost to the point where I couldn’t walk, so I wanted to give it time to heal before I tried running.
Today, I got out and ran a 5K even though there is an excessive heat warning.
The main reason was the break in my new trail running shoes. I picked up a pair of Brooks Cascadia shoes. They’re super comfortable, and I love the sole and the grip on the bottom.

As for the run:
3.2 miles. 361 feet of elevation gain. 49:17 time.
15:23 avg pace.
Good run.
After the heat warnings break off, I’m upping my running to 2 runs a week. One long, one short.
I’m training now for a 50-miler in November of 2027.
However, I’m going to do a half marathon in 2027 as well for the Red Cedar over here in Shawnland.
Howdy Members,
I’ve added a Gear Review label to this section of the forum.
When creating a new topic in the Trail Running Gear section, you can add the label Gear Review if you want to. It’s optional.
Please only add this label if you’re making a post to do an actual review on some trail running gear. I definitely encourage you to post reviews, too. Reviews will help other members find the best gear. Add as many as you want!
But using the label can help distinguish review topics from general trail running gear posts.
What are your favorite movies?
How often do you re-watch them?
Do any of you use training apps on your phone?
If so, what apps do you use and have you found them to be helpful?
Would you or do you pay for the training app?
Do any of you use running underwear at all?
I wear compression shorts and tights when I run. I usually go commando under them because they have built-in liners or panels.
Some people prefer underwear and there are many running underwear brands out there.
Are you one of these and if so, what brand do you go with and why?
How much do you sweat during trail runs?
Are you a major sweater or do you not sweat as much as others?
I sweat bad. If bugs land on me to bite, they usually drown immediately, LOL.

If so, what foods are you allergic too and how bad?
