What are some of your fails when you’ve been training?
How important is gut health to you as a trail runner?
Do you take probiotics at all? If so, which ones?
Have you ever followed a trail running training plan before?
Something like Couch to Trail Running or something similar.
What did you think about it?
If not, would you consider it?
Do you use a heart rate monitor when you trail run?
I’m talking about something other than what’s built into your sports watch.
What HR monitor do you use?
What are your weaknesses in trail running?
For me, it has to be speed. I’m not very fast. I would like to get a lot faster than I am.
How about you all?
Reply with how your weather is for the day! Keep this thread going each day!
90 degrees (f) with a Heat Advisory. Humidity makes it feel like 100 degrees.
We need rain and cooler temps!
What kinds of local clubs or groups are you involved in? We aren’t involved in anything currently, but are looking into getting into some hiking groups once my husband retires. There are some senior citizen groups as well that we are interested in for when he retires and if we’re living in those areas. They offer $2 lunches 😄 Score.
Some runners swear by drinking energy drinks before and during a trail run.
Do you do this?
Why or why not?
This past month, I did the Shawnee Hills 50K trail race,
I ran a total of 32.5 miles in a little over 12 hours. I placed in the 80s of about 100 runners.
The goal was to finish and that’s what I did.
The first 17 miles was fast. I ran most of them. Then I got blisters on both feet and run/hiked/limped the rest of the way.
As a result, I’ve bought better trail running shoes and better running-specific socks.
For my first ever 50K, it wasn’t bad, but it was very hard.
I’m an ultra runner now and now I’m hooked!

A lot of trail runners starting out do the walk run strategy.
Walk for a little while, run for a little while, then repeat.
Have any of you tried this? Or do you just run until you can’t run anymore?
I want to buy a treadmill.
I want something that works well and lets me adjust the elevation. A folding treadmill for easier storage would be a plus, too.
I just want something that won’t break the bank.
Anyone have any good suggestions?
As a trail runner, do you also get into road running, too?
Do you like road running more than trail running or the other way around?
Why?
Would you run outside during extreme temperatures?
For example, would you run outside during 100-degree weather or higher? How about if the temperature was below freezing?
If you would, how would you do so comfortably?
If not, what would you do instead?
Some trail runners are all about candy as a source of energy for a run.
Are you one of them?
If yes, what candy are you taking with you on your runs?
What are you doing to work on your speed as a trail runner?
Is it important to you to become a faster trail runner?
What are your average pacing goals while on a typical training run?
Do any of your carry a small towel for sweat collection?
If yes, what sort of towel or rag are you using on your trail runs?
How are your carrying and storing it?
How important is stretching to you as a trail runner?
How are you stretching? When do you stretch?
Feel free to share any stretching techniques you’ve learned along the way!
Howdy everyone,
I’m happy to announce that I have given this forum its own domain name.
These addresses should both work for the forum:
Note: You may need to re-login for the new domain name.
I hope the new domain name is a convenience for you all.
It’s that typical counting game!

What’s your favorite gel?
I’ve been using GU forever. I’d love to try different ones.
What would you suggest I try?
How often do you run a 5K?
Do you go to organized 5K trail or road runs for training?
Do any of you use a running vest at all?
I use a Salomon vest.
I like it a lot. It holds everything I need, including my 2.5-liter hydration bladder.
Do you have any chafing issues at all as a trail runner?
If yes, what is chafing on you?
How are you managing it?
You never know what can happen on a trail run, especially if you’re solo.
Do you carry something to protect yourself from other people or even wildlife?
Pepper spray? Knife? Pistol? What do you carry, if anything at all?
I’m just relaxing, creating this forum, and sipping on some water 🙂
How about everyone else?
