Do any of you use a running vest at all?
I use a Salomon vest.
I like it a lot. It holds everything I need, including my 2.5-liter hydration bladder.

What running watch are you using for trail running?
I’m using the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar Tactical. I love this watch. It seems to be more accurate than others I’ve had, and the tactical version just looks good.

I picked me up some new trail running shoes from the Missouri Running Co.
Brooks Cascadia 20
I love them so far. I’ve put about 10 miles on them, so they’re still pretty new.
They’re more comfortable than the Merrells I was using before.
Any of you ever worn these shoes?
Have you ever went fastpacking before?
Fastpacking is backpacking but trail running instead of hiking.
You usually take less gear and try to remain ultralight.
If you do this, what gear do you take? What pack do you wear?
Do you have to have pockets on the bottoms you use for running?
I run in half tights and full tights, pending the weather. I pretty much exclusively buy my shorts and tights with side pockets. I like to carry stuff I can access quickly and that makes it easy.
How about you all? Are pockets on pants and shorts a must?
One of my favorite trails where I walk, and others run, it’s hunting season for archery and will be hunting season until probably February of next year for various game and the ways that they can be killed. High visibility orange clothing is mandatory and usually I just avoid that trail except on certain Sundays where hunting is forbidden. But I’d like to look into getting something orange to wear without it being too expensive.
If you’re in a similar situation, what do you wear?
Do any of you use running underwear at all?
I wear compression shorts and tights when I run. I usually go commando under them because they have built-in liners or panels.
Some people prefer underwear and there are many running underwear brands out there.
Are you one of these and if so, what brand do you go with and why?
Cold weather is approaching.

How are your carrying and storing it?
I want to buy a treadmill.
I want something that works well and lets me adjust the elevation. A folding treadmill for easier storage would be a plus, too.
I just want something that won’t break the bank.
Anyone have any good suggestions?

What do you do? Buy gear or buy it because of the name?
Howdy Members,
I’ve added a Gear Review label to this section of the forum.
When creating a new topic in the Trail Running Gear section, you can add the label Gear Review if you want to. It’s optional.
Please only add this label if you’re making a post to do an actual review on some trail running gear. I definitely encourage you to post reviews, too. Reviews will help other members find the best gear. Add as many as you want!
But using the label can help distinguish review topics from general trail running gear posts.
What all socks are you all using for trail running?
I recently picked up a pair of SmartWool ankle socks for running. I’m excited to try them out.
I’m also interested in toe socks as they claim each toe being wrapped will prevent blistering.

Do any of you use trekking poles for trail running?
If so, what brand are you using and how do you like them?
Do you use running tights or leggings in cooler weather for trail running?
I have a few pairs of non-insulated Janji trail tights I wear. I have some insulated tights, but I tend to sweat easily, so I rarely wear them.
In most cases, I’ll wear a running long-sleeve shirt and a pair of half tights (like biker shorts for men) when it’s cold to balance myself out; otherwise, I’ll sweat a lot.
How about you all?
When I’m out on the trails for my walking hikes, I see runners who wear wireless earbuds. Which are the best ones that won’t shift, give good sound and will stand up to some rainy weather?
What trail running shorts do you wear?
I prefer to wear half tights/compression shorts when I run. It helps with chafing and I like the comfort of them.
I usually run in Janji Half Tights, FlipBelt, or Sprints.
How about you all? What trail running shorts do you prefer?
