Search
Before asking, search; the odds someone already answered are better than you think. The board's search is fast and understands more than exact words.

The magnifying glass in the header gets you here from anywhere.
Searching well
Type the words that would appear in the answer, not the question: "crash on startup windows" beats "why does my game not work". Results cover topics and posts, and the filters narrow things down when a common word floods you: by forum, by author, by date.
Beyond the search box
Member search finds people; your own profile collects your topics and posts when you're looking for that thing you wrote last spring. And on boards with Ask the Forum enabled, you can skip keywords entirely and ask your question in plain words; it answers from the board's own topics and cites its sources.
Found the answer in an old topic? A reaction on the helpful post costs you one click and tells the author, months later, that their effort is still paying rent.
