Formatting your posts

Updated October 20, 2026

The editor on this board is friendlier than the forums of old: what you see while writing is what your post looks like. Here's everything it can do.

The toolbar and shortcuts

Bold, italic, headings, lists, quotes and links all live in the toolbar, and the keyboard shortcuts you know from everywhere else (Ctrl B, Ctrl I) work here too. Code blocks keep technical text readable, and spoiler-style formatting hides what shouldn't be glimpsed.

Images

Drop an image onto the editor, paste it from your clipboard, or use the image button; all three end with the picture in your post. On boards with attachments enabled, files travel the same way.

The fun parts

  • Emoticons: the picker holds the board's own set alongside standard emoji. Every community's set is different; learning them is learning the local slang.

  • Mentions: type @ and a name to pull someone into the conversation; they get a notification.

  • Quotes: select any text in a topic and quote exactly that part, which keeps long topics readable.

Write first, format after. A clearly written post with two bold words beats a formatting festival every time, and headings are for long posts, not for greetings.
