Credits and the shop
Credits are your board's own currency: members earn them by participating and spend them in your shop. It's the oldest trick in the forum book, and it still works because it makes contribution visible and spendable.

Monetization: credit settings, the shop manager and the transaction log.
Earning
In Monetization, then Credit Settings you decide what participation pays: posting, topics, the actions your board values. Tune the amounts to your board's pace so the economy inflates neither into meaninglessness nor into grind.
Spending
The Shop Manager is where credits become fun: you stock it with whatever your community would want. Cosmetic perks, custom title changes, silly powers, event entries; the best shop items are the ones members show off. Every movement of credits is recorded in the Transactions log, so the economy is always auditable.
The economy spreads
Once credits are on, other features can plug into them: joining or founding clubs can cost credits, and members can tip a great post, which has its own guide. The more places credits matter, the more earning them means.
Launch the shop with a few cheap items and one absurdly expensive prestige item. The cheap ones teach spending; the expensive one gives your most active members a mountain to climb.
