Member aliases
Some communities are built on characters rather than accounts: roleplay boards where one writer plays five personas, art communities with separate identities per project. Aliases make that official, letting one real account carry several posting identities.
Turning aliases on
In Configuration, then Settings on the Members & Access tab, allow multi-accounts and set how many aliases each member may hold. Everything stays tied to the one real account underneath: one login, one email, one member as far as rules and moderation go.
How members use them
A member creates aliases from their own settings, each with its own name and avatar. When posting, they pick which identity speaks; the post shows the alias, with its own profile page collecting that identity's posts. Readers experience distinct characters; you and your moderators can always see the real account behind any alias.
Aliases are transparent to staff by design. Moderation, bans and permissions apply to the person, not the mask, so alias systems don't become accountability loopholes.
If you run a roleplay board, pair aliases with custom profile fields and a Custom Templates post rail: each character posts under their own name, wearing their own character sheet. That combination is the whole genre's dream setup.
