Automation
Automation lets your board act on its own. You write rules with three parts: when something happens, if it matches your conditions, then do things. A few examples that work well:
- When a topic reaches 50 replies, add a Hot label.
- When a report comes in, lock the topic and email yourself.
- When someone posts in your announcements forum, call a webhook that pings your Discord.
Making a rule
Go to Admin panel → Automation and hit New rule. Pick the trigger, add conditions (all of them have to match), then add actions in the order they should run. Actions can add or remove labels, lock, pin or move topics, hold them for approval, email you or the member, post a reply, or call a webhook.
For reply-posting actions you pick which account the reply comes from. Many boards make a dedicated account like "BoardBot" for this so members can tell automated replies apart.
Keeping an eye on it
Every rule shows how often it ran and when it last fired. Click the run count for the full history: what matched, what was skipped and why, and anything that failed. History is kept for 30 days.
Rules cannot run away. Each rule fires at most 30 times an hour, and a rule whose actions would trigger more rules stops after a few steps. If a rule seems to be doing too much, flip its switch off on the Automation page and it stops immediately.
